LEN CRINO

Len Crino is a recent graduate of Lawrence University, Conservatory of Music and a first year masters student at McGill University in the opera program. Len is a transgender soprano who nurtures an interest in contemporary opera but also enjoys reimagining classic soprano roles through a queer lens. Most recently, Len sang the role of “Lyra” in Lawrence University’s Alice Tierney, the role of “Bird” in McGill’s fall production of Blond Eckbert, sang in the chorus of McGill’s Dialogue of the Carmelites, and will be singing the role of “Tax form T4A” in the winter production of Tax Opera. He will also be assistant stage managing the winter production of Light in the Piazza and Imeneo, and stage managing the Opera McGill Horizons project, Dido and Aeneas. Last summer Len sang at the Bach Root’s Festival, where he sang soprano in Bach’s B minor Mass and worked with the queer youth choir, Vocal Essence. Outside of the McGill masters program, Len sings soprano with a professional church choir in St. Lambert, QC, swing dances, draws, and teaches voice lessons. Len’s small voice studio consists of transgender and queer identifying students, and he is hoping to grow into a teacher who specializes in training voices undergoing hormone therapy and vocal dysphoria. Len will be assistant stage managing, assistant directing, and shadowing the set designer during the summer program at Opera 5. He is looking forward to expanding his skills in stage management and set design, as his interest in arthas been a constant source of curiosity and joy.
